So my blog is called "freely ronnie". And that is because the concept of being free really hits home for me. I'm guessing most of my readers are fellow bloggers. Meaning, the creative type. So I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I have sudden urges to ditch the world, buy an overpriced Urban Outfitters weekender bag, and get on a bus to anywhere but here.
I crave the feeling of freedom. Of not being held back or labeled as something I'm not. I crave fresh starts. I long for the freedom to be whoever I want to be, wherever I want to be, and whenever I want to be. But people...come on...we live in a world of stereotypes. Of judgement. Of status quos & of schedules. So being "free" is much easier said than done.
I'm a full time college student, an employee, a girlfriend, a sister, a friend, a daughter...the list goes on and on. How could there possibly be time for freedom in a life full of obligation and expectations? Well I've wrestled with that question. & at the end of the day, realized that ultimately I was wrestling with myself. From my years of being submersed in a culture like ours, the lies and standards of the world had knit themselves deeply into my heart ... & you can't run from yourself.
Genuine freedom comes from within. It comes from knowing deep inside that you are free to be whoever you want to be because you ARE recognized and you ARE accepted and you ARE wanted by a God that created you and loves you with an unconditional love that can't be shaken no matter what the world throws at you. Freedom comes from the peace you receive when you embrace your confidence in who you were created to be. Yourself. Dorky, outspoken, awkward, hilarious, shy, intellectual, simple, complex....whatever! It's you. It's who you were created to be.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson,
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying
to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
& In the words me,
YOLO!!!!! So be yourself. Be free ;]
