all things new // nailpolish jewelry

4/7/13

I found some old jewelry at an antique store for $1 a piece and decided to spice em up with some spring colors and sparkle.

I really like how the deer charm, diamond shape necklace, and feather pin turned out. I've never really been a butterfly fan...but I'm sure once I put it on a chain it'll make a cute gift. Have any old jewelry laying around? Next time you feel like painting your toes, take a couple extra minutes to give your dusty old jewelry a makeover. It's so easy and quick.

all things new // upcycled matchbooks

4/2/13

I've had a jar of vintage matchbooks sitting around, asking me to do something with them. & on this rainy, cold day... I came up with a few ideas. Here are 3 ways to upcycle old matchbooks!

1. Matchbookmarks

I love how these turned out. So simple and so effective! The matchbook flap is perfect to cling onto the page where you left off and make sure you won't lose your spot!

2. Decorative Matchbook Mini-Banner

So simple! I hung mine over my mirror for now. But I think this would look best on the top of an inspiration bulletin board. You can find the mini clothespins and lace ribbon at walmart!

3. Matchbook Magnet Set

This was definitely the simplest idea. But I love it. I'm always looking for creative magnets that are unique, but also a set so that it doesn't look too jumbled. Voila!

Thanks for reading!

Keep on keepin on.

all things new // wildflower journal

3/18/13

I am starting a new mini-series in honor of Spring (my favorite season!) called all things new. It will be DIY crafts that are simple, practical, and related to Spring! To kick it off I decided to make myself a new journal where I can jot down whatever comes to mind related to blogging. I've been finding myself filling my school notebooks, post its, and random notepads with so many ideas and thoughts... so this was much needed.

You will need:
- notebook
- scrapbook paper
- small fake flower arrangements
- hot glue
- fabric scrap
- scissors
- pencil
- sharpie

Steps:
1. Trace notebook onto scrapbook paper, cut & paste onto cover
2. Cut off the flowers from the arrangements & align into wreath, or whatever design you want!
3. Glue flowers
4. Add quote, word, or whatever your heart desires
5. Cut long strip from fabric scrap & glue about an inch of it into the middle of the notebook

Spring is seriously the best. Just when you think you might burst from cabin fever or that the cold Missouri wind might rip the last bit of warmth from your heart, the birds start to sing outside your window and the sun comes out. It's that feeling of coming out of a season of cold darkness and into the warmth that makes me love Spring so much. After all, you learn to truly appreciate moments of sunshine when you are used to the cold winter clouds. It's just like life. Right now I am definitely in some cold winter clouds. But I am holdin' out and holdin' on for those new spring flowers to start budding.

But until then, I'll stare at my cute little journal :]

What did you create today?
