a real spring clean

3/26/14

.

Yes, closets need it. Cars are begging for it. Donation centers beckon over-worn clothes . Whatever you left under your bed is waiting to be re-discovered. Yes, spring cleaning is necessary. But I'm here to say... procrastinate. Just a little bit. No need to be ahead of yourself or everyone else all the time.

Spring cleaning is needed elsewhere.

In the winter I'm like a squirrel. I hoard things, collect emotions, hide it under a cozy sweater and too many marshmallows. But then Spring comes, and it speaks to me as brittle old branches show signs of new life. Out with the old, in with the new.

I think it's about time for fresh air to flood into your lungs and for the dark corners of your heart to be cleaned out and filled with new light.

As the warmer days call you to step outdoors, shake the dust off of your arms, and reach for new life. Seek healing, growth, and wisdom. Pursue new dreams. Figure out what you need to let go of.

Getting rid of the old and breathing in the new feels. so. good.

I assure you, your soul is more important than your overcrowded closet.

Need a kick-start? Justin Vernon is magic. Push play. Listen. Breathe.

all things new // nailpolish jewelry

4/7/13

I found some old jewelry at an antique store for $1 a piece and decided to spice em up with some spring colors and sparkle.

I really like how the deer charm, diamond shape necklace, and feather pin turned out. I've never really been a butterfly fan...but I'm sure once I put it on a chain it'll make a cute gift. Have any old jewelry laying around? Next time you feel like painting your toes, take a couple extra minutes to give your dusty old jewelry a makeover. It's so easy and quick.

dear easter bunny...

wildflower heart

I'm not sure if you make easter baskets big enough to hold all of this stuff. But I'm fine with accepting several small baskets. I know I usually get candy...& I'm not complaining...but I just thought I could help you get a little bit more creative this year! With this wishlist, I'd be ready to read pride & prejudice under a weeping willow tree, next to my newly planted garden, with an outfit to die for, and a camera strap ready to capture every new moment. Below are the links. I know everything is kind of pricey, but livin a good lifestyle can cost good money. I hope you understand. Thanks!

all things new // wildflower journal

3/18/13

I am starting a new mini-series in honor of Spring (my favorite season!) called all things new. It will be DIY crafts that are simple, practical, and related to Spring! To kick it off I decided to make myself a new journal where I can jot down whatever comes to mind related to blogging. I've been finding myself filling my school notebooks, post its, and random notepads with so many ideas and thoughts... so this was much needed.

You will need:
- notebook
- scrapbook paper
- small fake flower arrangements
- hot glue
- fabric scrap
- scissors
- pencil
- sharpie

Steps:
1. Trace notebook onto scrapbook paper, cut & paste onto cover
2. Cut off the flowers from the arrangements & align into wreath, or whatever design you want!
3. Glue flowers
4. Add quote, word, or whatever your heart desires
5. Cut long strip from fabric scrap & glue about an inch of it into the middle of the notebook

Spring is seriously the best. Just when you think you might burst from cabin fever or that the cold Missouri wind might rip the last bit of warmth from your heart, the birds start to sing outside your window and the sun comes out. It's that feeling of coming out of a season of cold darkness and into the warmth that makes me love Spring so much. After all, you learn to truly appreciate moments of sunshine when you are used to the cold winter clouds. It's just like life. Right now I am definitely in some cold winter clouds. But I am holdin' out and holdin' on for those new spring flowers to start budding.

But until then, I'll stare at my cute little journal :]

What did you create today?
